Frequently Asked Guestions;
Q. How do I know if seed has good germination?
A. Ask supplier to provide you with a current Certificate of Analysis issued by an accredited seed testing laboratory. You can then calculate “Pure Live Seeds” (PLS). This method will help you calculate sowing rate.
Formula: Purity X Germination ÷ 100
Q. How do I get good establishment?
A. Use heavier sowing rate or allow pasture in first or second year to seed down which will provide future seed reserves in the soil.
Q. What determines the protein level of a grass?
A. Soil nutrition.
Q. Is coated seed more economical to use?
A. Generally, no. Sowing rates need to be increased due to the added weight of the coating. For example, if you would need 2 Kg per hectare of bare seed, the equivalent using coated seed would be 10 Kg if the coating ratio was 5:1.
However, the advantage of coating chaffy seed eg. Indian bluegrass, Buffel, Rhodes, Creeping bluegrass together with some native grasses allows for ease of sowing. |
Q. How do I determine which pasture or legume is suitable to sow?
A. Look at soil type and amount of rainfall over a season.

Hi Scott
I apologise for the non response to your comments on our web site. We had had some technical difficulties which now has been corrected.
We have some natives though our inventories are now small owing to either lack of demand or too short a lead time for supply.
